ISOFIX – WHAT IS IT AND HOW DOES IT WORK
WHAT IS ISOFIX
ISOFIX is an alternative installation method for your child restraint.
HOW DOES IT WORK
To use ISOFIX, your vehicle must have ISOFIX anchorage bars built in to the seats and you must have a compatible child restraint with ISOFIX attachments. ISOFIX child restraints still require the use of the top tether strap.
If you are unsure whether your vehicle has ISOFIX anchorage bars check your vehicle owner's manual or contact the vehicle manufacturer.
Simply connect the restraints ISOFIX attachments to the vehicle’s ISOFIX anchorage bars ensuring you hear a click.
Adjust the ISOFIX left and right attachments until the tension indicators turn from red to green.
Ensure the top tether is fitted as per the instruction manual.
The ISOFIX system, is not replacing the existing seatbelt system currently in use but rather providing another option for parents and carers.. ISOFIX seats are particularly useful if a child restraint is moved from one ISOFIX compatible vehicle to another often.
Child restraints that use the vehicle seat belt and top tether strap still continue to be available and provide safe options for transporting children. Both options are equally as safe when installed correctly.
There is still potential for incorrect use of ISOFIX compatible child restraints, so it is important to take care when fitting. Always refer to the child restraints user guide along with the vehicle owner’s manual when installing your restraint.
If you have any queries regarding ISOFIX contact your local Anything Baby Franchise and speak with one of our nationally accredited fitters.
